Toddler Beds…So Overrated!
Long gone are the days when we tip-toed around the house in fear of waking my son from his nap (okay, that might be a slight exaggeration!). And to think we were so worried about making the transition from his crib to a toddler bed (remember the post, Bye Bye Crib, Hello Toddler Bed?), only to discover that the transition wasn’t as bad as we had imagined!
So here we are in the present, my son is 23 months, sleeps like an angel in is toddler bed…at night, that is! He has always been a morning napper (at least 2 hours) then all of the sudden (I’m pinning it down to when my daughter was born) he started switching his naps to the afternoon…WHEN he naps!
Although we know he will most likely NOT sleep we still put him in his room in the morning to play…which HE interprets as “destroy!”
Take for example, when he “plays” with his blinds (we usually raise them but this picture was taken in the morning when he woke up). In his defense, how else is he going to look out the window yelling for the “squirrrrelll?!”
And then there’s that radiator…(this is how I found him one morning!)
This was after I yelled at him (in English AND Italian-double whammy!)
Forget the comfy armchair we bought him specifically for chillaxin’ and reading a good book…
Every once in a while he doesn’t cause any major damage…that’s because he’s figured out a new trick…
Onesie-fashion statement?!
IF he decides to take his nap, it’s usually after the tornado has hit the room (and he calms down after the storm). He goes from ransacking his room to out cold…in as little as a minute or two!
Lately he’s been sleeping like a log…an adorably cute log that is!
(Wish it were that easy for me. To say I’m a horrible sleeper is an understatement! My poor sleep habits have reached a new level since having children. Whereas my husband is an S.O.C (my acronym for Sleep On Command) type of person, I have become a C.I.I (Child-Induced Insomniac). Anyone feel my pain??!! Alright, enough wallowing in my own sleep-deprived pity…that’s another blog post!)
I ask myself, can anyone actually sleep in these positions??
(Gave up on finding the squirrel!)
(Gave up hope that we would have come to rescue him!)
(Would NOT let go of that car!!)
(Made it to the bed but the wrong end found the pillow…still, better than the previous position!)
At the end of the day, I guess I shouldn’t complain! He IS still taking naps after all!
What’s the strangest sleep position you’ve found your toddler in?!
