Banana Peach Chia Smoothie (Dairy-Free)

Smoothies are a great way to mix up baby’s daily menu. As adults, we eat a variety of foods on a daily basis, yet we tend to feed baby the same foods every day!
It’s time to jazz up the menu by offering a variety of textures and flavours to baby rather than the same ole’ purees every day!
The concept is simple; choose fresh, seasonal, organic (whenever possible) fruits (and veggies), and combine them with a variety of additional flavour and health-enhancing ingredients, such as Greek yogurt, coconut flakes, flax seeds, and in this case, chia seeds.
The sweet bananas and tangy peaches combined with the coconut milk make for a tropical inspired summer drink (of course, us adults could add a few extra ingredients in there to liven it up!).
This smoothie also doubles as a fruit pudding! When consumed immediately, the chia seeds add a crunchy bite to the smoothie.
You can also prepare ahead of snack time and store the smoothie in the fridge for a few hours, allowing the chia seeds to thicken into a dense, tapioca-style pudding.
(Yields 2-4 servings)
2 large ripe peaches, peeled and quartered
2 frozen bananas, peeled and quartered
1 tbs. raw honey, optional
1 heaping tbs. chia seeds
unsweetened coconut milk or liquid of choice, quantity as desired
Place all ingredients in a large blender and puree until combined and smooth.
*TIP: Add a small amount of of coconut milk at a time (about 1/4 cup) then continue to add as needed until you get the desired consistency.
Serve immediately, garnished with additional chia seeds for added crunch, if desired.
This smoothie is best consumed immediately. Although you can store it in the fridge for a day, be mindful that the bananas and peaches will lose their bright colour and freshness.
